Creating a strong homework routine

Creating a routine for homework is a critical part of helping your child plan, prepare and stay on top of their classwork. Similar to the mindset of "everything has a space and everything in its space" having a strong homework routine helps prevent missed assignments or forgotten tests and projects. A strong homework routine makes it easy for children to complete work or stay focused when life gets crazy. And life gets crazy-sports, dance, siblings, pets and the distractions and time taker things that can put a child off kilter. Routines in general help lessen a child's anxiety and provide a sense of safety for them.
By routine I mean literally laying out each step from pulling out their planners to what subjects to tackle first-each tiny layer of the routine must be laid out and practiced daily.
